“Taiji (Tai Chi) for Balance” is an exercise program for older adults who want to improve their balance to reduce their chances of falling. Falls are the leading cause of accidental injuries and deaths among adults aged 65 and older. This class is intended to help older adults who have lost their balance increase their independence by decreasing their fear of falling, and to strengthen their stability, balance and agility.
We’re going to make falling for older adults in Clintonville a much smaller statistic. We’ll do it through easy-to-learn movements, in a workshop atmosphere that is supportive, fun and with mindful attention. Tips for reducing accidental falls will be included in each session.
The instructor is Guy Smalley, MPH who has been a long time resident of Clintonville and retired from the College of Public Health at Ohio State. He recently completed his “Taiji for Balance” levels 1-3 training certification developed by Lucy Bartimole who has taught Tai Chi for many years. She owns the Shift studio in Grandview.
Sessions are intended for participants of all physical abilities such as individuals requiring use of a wheelchair, walker or cane."
This class is free
