A group of Clintonville neighbors working with the Clintonville-Beechwold Community Resources Center (CRC) has started a virtual village, "Village in the Ville," to provide friendship, support, and education to adults age 50 and older in the area served by the Clintonville Area Commission.
This program is part of the Village Movement that began in the late 1990s when neighbors in the Beacon Hill neighborhood in Boston came together to create an organization to help its members “age in place.”
Our goal is to find ways of meeting our members’ needs through organized social and educational events, volunteer assistance, referral to service providers, and opportunities for engagement within the Clintonville community. A community Advisory Board will ensure the Village reflects the needs and desires of our members.
Members pay an annual fee to belong to the group, based on the number of participants in a household and level of service selected. Scholarships are available for individuals with demonstrated financial need. For more information on fees and payment plans, please contact our Program Director.
Joining Village in the Ville can help address the challenges associated with staying in our homes as we age, despite scattered families, modest resources, and lack of coordinated government efforts. Our community is taking our future into our own hands so we can savor the later part of our lives. We plan to have a lot of fun together, too!
Village in the Ville is a program of the Clintonville-Beechwold Community Resources Center.
